# Equipment Settings

The read-and-drill-in view of your equipment taxonomy. Titled **Equipment Attributes** in the app, this page lets you pick an equipment type (and optionally a subtype), review its details and subtype list, and jump into attribute management for exactly that classification.

## Check the context

The **Context** card confirms which tenant you're working in. For most users it's informational; a **Superuser** gets a Tenant selector here and can switch the working tenant — the choice sticks for the session, so always glance at it before reviewing configuration.

## Review a type

1. In **Filter**, select the **Equipment Type**. The subtype list reloads to match.
2. Optionally select an **Equipment Subtype** to narrow further — or leave it at *-- Select Subtype --*.
3. Select **Apply**. (Choosing values alone doesn't refresh the view — Apply does.)

The **Type Details & Subtypes** card then shows the type's details and a table of its subtypes (ID, name, code), with your selected subtype highlighted. Until you Apply, the card shows instructions instead.

The small *Source:* hints under the selectors name the underlying configuration tables — useful when corresponding with support about a specific type.

## Manage Attributes

With a type applied, the **Manage Attributes** button jumps straight into attribute management for that type — carrying the subtype along if you selected one. That's the fastest route from "what does this type look like?" to "change what it collects."

## Troubleshooting

**The details card just shows instructions.**
:   You haven't applied a selection yet — pick a type and select **Apply**.

**The subtype list is empty for my type.**
:   That type has no subtypes defined. Add them in [Manage equipment subtypes](manage-subtypes.md).

**I'm a Superuser and the data looks like the wrong company's.**
:   Check the Context card's Tenant selector — the working tenant persists across pages for your session.
